Renewable Energy Specialists Move to New Head Office

A fast-growing renewable energy business has opened a new North East head office after a year of rapid growth.

Hasmart, based in South Shields, has moved into One Trinity Green after seeing its headcount grow from two to 20 over the past year.

A flurry of new contract wins has underpinned the company’s growth, the most lucrative of which will see the firm install solar panels across the UK on behalf of one of the nation’s largest energy providers.

Hasmart also merged with family-owned electrical business Laycock Electricals earlier this year, a move which saw Chris Laycock join the firm as a director and has been credited with being ‘a key enabler of the company’s growth.’

Graeme Haswell, Founder and Director said:

“It’s been an incredible year for Hasmart. We’ve gone from two members of staff to 20, onboarded some great new clients and completed our merger with Laycock Electricals, which has really improved our offering.

“It’s not only allowed us to bring in more expertise to the team but also increase our services, which alongside the opening of the new office, will help drive the business forward as demand for our services continues to grow.”

Graeme set up Hasmart three years ago having worked as an electrical engineer for over two decades.

The company installs solar panels, battery storage systems and EV chargers for domestic and commercial customers, as well as smart home services such as home automation, media and entertainment systems and security and access systems.

The move to One Trinity Green, which is owned and managed by South Tyneside Council, will provide the company with the flexibility and space required to realise its growth ambitions as it seeks to help the Government achieve its goal of achieving Net Zero by 2050.

Chris said:

“We knew we needed a dedicated, larger workspace to bring everyone together under one roof and One Trinity Green was exactly what we were looking for.

“It’s enabled us to stay in our hometown of South Shields, where we’re proud to be creating opportunities for local people, given us a secure space to store our vans and has provided us with the flexibility to easily upsize as the business continues to grow.

“We’re also taking on more contracts across the Midlands, Yorkshire and Cumbria, which will mean we’ll need more people and vans, and the new office will be central to achieving this. It’s another huge milestone for the business.”

Cllr Margaret Meling, South Tyneside Council’s lead member for economic growth and transport, said:

“We are delighted to welcome Hasmart to One Trinity Green.

“South Tyneside is fast becoming recognised as a thriving green energy hub and is leading the way in innovative renewable technologies. Hasmart is further building on that success by creating skilled jobs for local people and expanding across the UK.

“Chris and Graeme are a fantastic success story for the borough and we’d like to wish them all the best for the future.”
