North East family business Dicksons is opening its third store in Sunderland as it brings a new way of shopping for their food to its customers.

Dicksons has been crafting delicious, high-quality food from its South Shields factory headquarters since 1953.

Set to open in January, the store on Durham Road Retail Park will be Dicksons’ 34th location and will represent an investment of around £200k, which will create 8 new jobs in the local area.

The new store is designed to create an improved shopping experience. It will have a self-select pastry display, an updated till system for swifter service, a loyalty rewards app and a brand new back-of-house kitchen that allows for greater choice and improved product finishing.

Dicksons has been a staple of the North East for over 70 years, known for its dedication to quality, hearty recipes and friendly customer service. In its recent rebrand, the business developed the strapline “Making Your Day” with feeding communities with good food at the heart of everything they do.

Mike Dickson, family member and Retail Growth & Development Director, said:

“This is the first Dicksons store of its kind in the North East and we are excited to be launching it in Sunderland. We chose this location because of its high footfall, making it the perfect area to introduce our new store design and reflect the changing needs of customers.

“While a lot has changed since we first opened our doors, our commitment to providing personal, friendly service has always remained at the heart of what we do. With these new features designed to make our stores more engaging and efficient, we’re excited to offer our customers a better shopping experience – whether they’re stopping by for breakfast, lunch, or tea.”
