Auxillia Youth Services CIC operates across South Tyneside with the aim of providing young people aged 8-24 with a bespoke youth service. Developing new partnerships and collaborative ways of working to maximise the service we can offer to young people which are youth led and youth focused.
We aim to help young people to identify their social and development needs, working with them to develop holistically and to facilitate their personal, social and educational development. We want them to create their own voice and place in society and aim to help them do this. We aim to involve them in shaping the services we offer which are designed to meet those needs, to impact both their own skills and life chances in order to create a better future for themselves and their communities.
Our work is focused around 2 areas: open access youth projects in which we work with local communities in areas of disadvantage to set up youth provision. These are youth focused and youth led that will help to raise young people’s aspirations. The programmes encourage social action and community projects, guiding them in gaining and accessing funding to help support their ideas and to enable them to offer the young people in their local area improved opportunities and therefore reducing crime and violence in the area. Open access youth projects are aimed at those aged 8-15 , we encourage those older members to become peer mentors and develop them into leaders to run sessions with support.
In addition to this we offer support to 15-24 year old’s, who have been out of education and are needing support with improving low confidence and self-esteem, have difficulty with communicating and are dealing with social anxieties, suffering from poor emotional well-being and lack resilience to cope with everyday tasks, lack interest and just generally have a lack of focus. We work to be able to get them involved in positive behaviours which helps to improve their prospects, get them involved in community activities and encourage them to avoid anti-social behavior. The work we do with them can vary from employability skills to improving confidence by encouraging them to attend sessions and work on any barriers, The support can vary depending on the needs of the young person.
We work to establish links with local businesses and community organisations to create volunteering opportunities which enable young people to gain work experience. Developed partnerships with likeminded organisations to provide a different personal development programme for young people, which gives them the opportunity to explore real work experience opportunities, gain maths and English skills and improve their personal and social barriers to education, training and employment.
