Zenith People is the latest business to sign the South Tyneside Pledge. The professional recruitment agency, based in Hebburn, has over 20 years of experience connecting people with business, helping businesses to grow and people to realise their career ambitions.
Operating across a broad range of sectors, the company offers both permanent and temporary recruitment solutions complemented by training services, including a full range of apprenticeships, through Zenith Training.
Alan Metcalfe, Commercial Director at Zenith People, is Chair of the Advanced Manufacturing Forum and Chamber of Commerce (South Tyneside area) and is a keen advocate of business partnerships and collaboration.
He said:
“The Pledge is a great initiative by the council and it resonated with me that we weren’t buying as much as we should be from the borough. I think the pledge has focused the minds of myself and some of the employees that work for Zenith, and we now buy 95% of all our goods and services from within South Tyneside.
“Additionally, our business can also help support other businesses in the borough by moving young people into the right careers for them.
“We have fully funded training for all SMEs which I would encourage employers to get in touch with us about. We need a strong, trained and developed business community.”
Cllr Tracey Dixon, Leader of South Tyneside Council and Chair of South Tyneside Partnership said:
“Zenith People is a real local asset, connecting South Tyneside residents with jobs and relevant training, which is a core priority for the Council. Committed to the wellbeing of their staff, and striving to procure locally, they are a fitting example of the South Tyneside Pledge in action”.
Launched in January 2022, the South Tyneside Pledge aims to boost local economic activity, reduce health inequalities, cut carbon emissions and enhance civic pride for the benefit of the whole borough.
