The 5% Club represents a powerful movement of companies working together to make workplace training more inclusive, diverse, and accessible. Collectively their members support 1.9 million employees, with more than 108,000 individuals participating in “earn and learn” schemes.
This is the second successive year the South Tyneside Pledge organisation have received Gold Status for their commitment to future employees through initiatives such as apprenticeships and student placements.
Leanne Hume, HR Manager at Ford Aerospace said:
“The 5% Club is dedicated to increasing the employment and career prospects of today’s youth by working with employers to inspire positive action for increased and accessible workplace learning. This is something we wholeheartedly support, and we are absolutely thrilled to recognised in this way.”
The South Tyneside Pledge aims to encourage South Tyneside organisations to focus on local activities and practical steps such as local procurement and recruitment, that can help South Tyneside to thrive. Promoting apprenticeships is one of the key pillars of the South Tyneside Pledge.
Earlier this year, Leanne spoke at ‘Your Next Steps Live’, a South Tyneside Council event for school leavers, parents and job seekers about the value the business places on apprenticeships:
