South Tyneside agricultural complementary feedstuff supplier, Tyneside Nutrition, is going from strength to strength following EU growth.
Over the past year the company, based at South Shields Business Works, has tripled its sales within Romania alone and has an established network of five distributors throughout mainland Europe.
Tyneside Nutrition, which became a private limited company in May 2018, is the European sister company to Herban™ UK, one of the leading suppliers of Oregano Complementary Feed Supplements for all animal livestock.
Operating within the global animal feed additives market, valued at $19,642 million in 2017, both companies export Nutrigano™ & Herban™ Liquid & Premix – which support the health status of all livestock – to 12 countries around the world including; Nigeria, Ghana, South Korea, Thailand, India, Philippines, Ecuador & Myanmar.
In May, Tyneside Nutrition showcased the Nutrigano™ range at Animal Medic Seminar, a bi-annual event prompting advances in animal health, in Sighisoara Romania. This was made possible after it received support from South Tyneside Council, under its Invest South Tyneside Export Growth Programme.
Following the seminar, the company tripled its exports to Romania from 576 litres in 2018 to 1752 litres in 2019 with further scope for growth.
William Stewart, Managing Director, said: “Being able to exhibit in Romania, thanks to the supportfrom Invest South Tyneside, helped establish Tyneside Nutrition within a new market. With a 300% increase in sales in six months, the potential for further growth in eastern Europe is an exciting prospect.
“While the European arm of the business is expanding, 2020 also looks positive for Herban™ UK with the potential to enter the USA market. As a local entrepreneur its reassuring to know there is support available from the council from funding advice to business space.”
Born and raised on Hillhead Farm, Lizard Lane in Whitburn, William has firm roots within the Borough.
William added: “I wouldn’t want to live and work anywhere else in the world. I was born and raised in the borough and proud to now be here with my own family, running a business in the town centre.”
