National Landscaper to Open Dedicated North East Hub in South Tyneside

One of the UK’s largest grounds maintenance providers has opened a new regional hub for the North East.

Tivoli has invested in a new 9,062 sq ft hub at Boldon Business Park as the company’s North East arm continues to bloom.

Home to 50 employees, the facility will be utilised as an operational depot for the group’s local grounds maintenance teams.

It will also support the company’s annual spring recruitment drive, which will see it create 20 seasonal jobs based from the new depot next year.

Darren Mulligan, Regional Director at Tivoli Group, said:

“The new depot at Boldon is in a convenient location and will support our current and any new contract service delivery in the area.

“We are proud that our teams based at the depot all live locally, and we are keen to continue to employ locally for our seasonal staff too.”

The multi award-winning grounds maintenance provider has delivered services for both the public and private sectors, from the NHS, Ministry of Defence and local authorities to facility management companies and blue-chip corporates, for over 30 years.

In more recent years however, the company – which employs over 1,200 people across the UK – has secured a number of new contracts in the North East, leading to it making a strategic decision to continue investing in the region.

Darren added:

“We knew as soon as we saw Boldon Business Park that it was the ideal location for establishing our operational depot.

“The site is fresh, modern and has all the amenities to deliver a good first impression for our staff, customers and visitors, with the building offering us the operational depot, storage and office space which really suits our needs.

“Over the next 12-18 months, we see it becoming our regional hub for the North East and we have really ambitious growth targets to continue growing this region of the business as we look to the future.”

The move by Tivoli follows a significant investment in recent years into Boldon Business Park by its owner UK Land Estates.

Since reacquiring the estate in March 2023, the leading property investor and developer has committed to investing millions of pounds into ‘futureproofing the estate’ and ‘helping attract more businesses to the region’.

David Gibbs, Commercial Director at UK Land Estates, said: “We are delighted to welcome Tivoli to Boldon Business Park.

“Since reacquiring the site back in March, together with our purchase of Didcot Way in 2020, we’ve set aside millions of pounds to ensure the estates and its units continue to meet the needs of tomorrow’s businesses and attracting a company of Tivoli’s stature is a perfect example of how we are ensuring it continues to do just that.

“It’s a fantastic, independently-owned business which has shown a real desire to invest in the region and create jobs for local people. It’s been a pleasure working with them on this deal and we’d like to wish them all the best as they look to continue investing and growing their presence in the North East.”

Cllr Margaret Meling, lead member for economic growth and transport at South Tyneside Council, said:

“It’s fantastic to welcome Tivoli and I look forward to seeing the company grow in this new regional hub.

“Boldon Business Park is in an absolutely prime location with access to an incredibly skilled workforce. We hope Tivoli will be one of many businesses attracted to the site following UK Land Estates’ ongoing investment into the estate and facilities.”
