Local people are being encouraged to nominate their unsung heroes from across the Borough in the #LoveSouthTyneside Awards.
Now in its sixth year, the #LoveSouthTyneside Awards have gone from strength to strength. Nominations showcase the amazing community spirit that exists in South Tyneside, highlighting those unsung heroes who help others without expecting recognition.
This year’s ceremony takes place at the Customs House in South Shields on Thursday 11 July 2024 and is sponsored by a range of local businesses and organisations, including Lead Sponsor, Equinor and The Red Sky Foundation who once again will donate trophies for the Award winners.
The #LoveSouthTyneside Awards celebrate civic pride and community spirit in South Tyneside. Nominations are welcomed from anyone and can be for any individual, organisation or group who has gone above and beyond for their community. The closing date for nominations is Monday 1st July.
Business Supporting the Community
This year there is a category to recognise a business, which includes sole traders, social enterprises, community interest companies and SMEs, that play a part in South Tyneside life. This could be through structured programmes such as volunteer days for employees, to ad-hoc activity, including fundraising, donations of equipment or skills – or anything that constitutes corporate social responsibility.
The Mayor of South Tyneside, Councillor Fay Cunningham said: “The #LoveSouthTyneside Awards are all about celebrating the people who make our lives richer from the little selfless acts that they do on a day-to-day basis. This could be anything from carrying out litter picks in their communities to looking out for their neighbours.
“South Tyneside is bursting with community heroes who go above and beyond to make the Borough such a fantastic place to live.
“If anyone knows of someone who deserves a special ‘thank you’ for their amazing work, then please take the time to nominate so that we can show them just how valued they really are. We are extremely grateful to all those who have made, and still are making, a huge difference within South Tyneside.”
