Lucy Winskell, OBE, Chair of the North East Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP), and Lord Lieutenant of Tyne and Wear, calls for North East businesses to seek recognition, by receiving the King’s Award for Enterprise.
We are very proud of the North East’s many innovative, productive and ambitious businesses. Our thriving business ecosystem is something that should be celebrated and recognised, which is why the LEP is supporting the King’s Award.
The King’s Award for Enterprise is the most prestigious award for businesses, recognising and celebrating business excellence across the UK.
Successful recipients of the award receive a Grant of Appointment and can display the award emblem for up to five years. They also gain access to a thriving alumni network of previous award recipients.
His Majesty The King personally approves the Awards, supported by the Department for Business and Trade who publicly announce the recipients.
Although the application may take between 20 and 50 hours to complete, the King’s Award can open new doors in terms of securing new contracts, venturing into new markets and growing the business.
In my role as Lord Lieutenant of Tyne and Wear, I am hosting this workshop to help businesses to learn more about the scheme. The 2-hour event will be held at Gateshead Civic Centre during the afternoon of Tuesday July 4, with speakers from the King’s Award team and past recipients sharing their knowledge.
This is a vital opportunity for great North East businesses to be celebrated. I would urge as many eligible companies as possible to apply for this fantastic accolade.
Applications for the 2024 round are now open and close at midday on the 12 September 2023.
Anyone interested in attending the King’s Award workshop should register their interest by 12 June, on a first-served basis, by emailing John Robinson, Clerk to the Lieutenancy, at office@tynewearlieutenancy.org.uk
