Innovation Support for South Tyneside Businesses

Businesses in South Tyneside looking to develop new products, improve processes or explore research and development opportunities can access fully funded innovation support through Arrow.

Delivered in partnership with Durham University, Newcastle University, Northumbria University and the University of Sunderland, Arrow helps businesses tackle innovation challenges through bespoke short-term projects designed around their specific needs.

The programme provides access to academic expertise, specialist facilities and research capabilities that can help businesses accelerate growth, develop new ideas and overcome barriers to innovation.

Support available through Arrow includes:

  • Innovation and business improvement advice
  • Research and development support
  • Proof of concept and validation projects
  • Specialist data science expertise
  • Access to research facilities and equipment

More than 300 organisations across the North East have already benefited from Arrow, using the programme to improve efficiency, develop innovative solutions and bring new ideas to market.

53 new products and services have been developed, boosting private investment by £2.6m and increasing business turnover by £16.9m. Arrow innovation projects are helping to speed up processes and break down barriers to success.

Eligible businesses located in South Tyneside can access this support at no cost. Projects are fully funded through the North East Mayoral Combined Authority’s Integrated Settlement Fund.
