A North East organisation dedicated to Equality, Diversity & Inclusion is to speak to South Tyneside businesses to support them to recognise the benefits of EDI (Equality, Diversity and Inclusion) in their workplace culture and being a disability confident employer.
Pamela Seers, founder and managing director of PRS Inclusion Services, will be speaking on a panel at the Recruit Well, Retain and Empower event on March 14, organised by South Tyneside Council.
PRS Inclusion Services has been supporting people with disabilities and people who have barriers to education, training, employment and social inclusion since 2006, offering personal development opportunities, tailored learning and education, work experience and transition into employment. The organisation also delivers equality and diversity training to businesses, through their Partner’s in Employment programme, helping to change perceptions and become a more inclusive and equitable employer.
Since setting up the business, Pamela has dedicated her career to helping people with disabilities and multiple barriers live confidently. With a background working in social services, health and education, she saw that skills were being lost due to people facing barriers to employment.
Pamela said:
“It’s a real passion of mine to get the very best from people and enable them to be as independent as possible. We’ve helped hundreds of people move closer to the labour market, into employment or education and training, and it’s amazing to see the positive impact it has on their wellbeing.
“Businesses play a crucial role in breaking down barriers to employment for individuals with disabilities and multiple barriers, and by fostering a culture of inclusivity that recognises the unique talents and contributions of every individual, workplaces become more diverse and perceptions change.
“I’m delighted to be speaking at the Recruit Well, Retain and Empower event, and I’m looking forward to engaging with businesses to help them access the necessary tools, training and support so that they can feel confident in their ability to create environments where individuals with disabilities and multiple barriers feel valued and are able to thrive.”
The free Recruit Well, Retain and Empower event will take place on March 14 at One Trinity Green, South Shields between 9.30am – 12pm.
Pamela will be joined on the business panel by Eddie Czestochowski from Cell Pack Solutions, who will be giving a local employers perspective on improving the employee journey, as well as Michael Hall from E Quality Solutions who will be sharing internal examples of supporting employees.
The event will also include a keynote speech from Rosie Bright from Neurodivergent Consulting, an exhibition providing information about the Better Health at Work Award, the Disability Confident Scheme and South Tyneside Council’s support for carers, as well as the chance to network with other businesses and attendees.
Cllr Margaret Meling, lead member for economic growth and transport at South Tyneside Council, said:
“By working together with organisation like PRS Inclusion, we can empower businesses to create diverse and supportive workplaces that benefit both employees and the community.
“This event will provide an invaluable opportunity for businesses to learn from experts and gain practical insights into becoming a disability confident employer.”
