Growing Broker Sees Benefits of Doing Business in South Tyneside

An employee benefits specialist based in South Shields has marked its 30th anniversary with the opening of a new customer focus hub.

The Health Insurance Group, which helps businesses across the UK to better provide for their staff, has opened a new customer focus hub at One Trinity Green.

Set up in 1993, the company has proven a real North East success story, operating offices in South Shields and Sutton Coldfield and working with over 300 clients from Aberdeen to Andover.

Underpinning this growth, according to employee benefits specialist, Adam Brown, has been ‘the huge shift in post-covid employee expectations and the UK’s ongoing ‘recruitment and retention crisis’.

“Over the past two years, people have really begun to value employers who go above and beyond to help them achieve a better work life balance and this is something we have seen first-hand,” he said.

“Whereas in the past employee benefits were seen by many as a ‘nice thing to do’, the shift to remote and flexible working has rightly led to it being seen by many as a ‘must thing to have’, especially with the current recruitment and retention crisis.

“With vacancies at a record high, businesses must do whatever they can to attract and retain the best talent, and this has naturally led to a huge uplift in demand for employee benefit packages, be it private healthcare, subsidised travel or discounts for everyday goods and services.”

The opening of the new customer focus hub at One Trinity Green will see The Health Insurance Group continue to invest in South Tyneside, where it has been headquartered since its inception 30 years ago.

“Over the past year we’ve taken on new staff ahead of the opening of our new hub and are delighted with how it has been received by our customers and staff so far,” he added.

“It is centrally located in the heart of South Shields, just a short drive from the main transport routes and will give us the space required to continue growing our team as we plan for the future.

“It also has contemporary, professional meeting rooms which we can use when we host clients or staff, both of which often visit from all corners of the UK, so it really is the perfect environment for us.”

One Trinity Green is a managed workspace in South Shields owned by South Tyneside Council offering professional managed space for new and growing companies.

“It is fantastic to see The Health Insurance Group continuing to invest in the borough and create opportunities for local people.

“We opened One Trinity Green with the aim of providing the borough’s businesses with the space and flexibility required to help them innovate and grow and this is a fantastic example of how it is continuing to do just that.

“The company is a real success story for the borough, and we’re proud to be supporting them on their journey.”
