Bereavement touches every community — but supporting someone through grief can feel daunting.

With 1% of the UK population dying each year, many people turn first to local charities, community groups, and VCSE organisations for help. Staff and volunteers often want to offer comfort, but aren’t always sure what to say or how best to support someone who’s grieving.

Delivered by St Oswald’s and fully funded, this practical and supportive training session will help your team feel confident when working with people experiencing loss. In just two hours, you’ll learn how to:

  • Listen with empathy and respond with compassion
  • Have open, meaningful conversations about grief
  • Offer reassurance without feeling responsible for “fixing” anything
  • Signpost sensitively to further help and resources

Talking about death and dying can be difficult — but the skills to support someone through grief can make a genuine difference. Join us to build confidence, strengthen your organisation’s support offer, and help ensure no one in South Tyneside faces loss alone.

Limited to 20 spaces for VCSE only. Open to pledge and Inspire members only.

Please book via Plinth: Grief, Loss and Bereavement Training (For South Tyneside VCSE) – Inspire South Tyneside
