Business Talk – DME Systems

DME Systems works across the globe, delivering multi-million pound projects in the USA, Mexico, and Japan, to name just a few. Created nearly three years ago, DME offers a solutions-based engineering service designing machinery to overcome specific challenges, often in extreme environments.

The business – which has grown from seven specialists just over a year ago, to employ 16 full time employees and 25 in total – has recently moved into a new home in Garwood Street, in South Shields, and recently announced a merger with US-based ocean health company Woocheen.

Woocheen focusses on ocean health, clean energy and climate research. Woocheen’s acquisition of DME Systems marks a significant investment from a US-based company into the North of England, proving the continued attractiveness of the region as a global player in both renewable and offshore energy.

In this South Tyneside Business Talk, we hear the story of DME Systems, how it was formed, the type of work it undertakes in some of the most extreme and pressurised environments across the world and what the future holds at this exciting time.
