SURT offer a specialist service to children and young adults living in South Tyneside who are age 11-24 and at risk of, or affected by relationship abuse. SURT recognise relationship abuse as intimate partner abuse, honour based abuse, stalking and harassment, sexual and criminal exploitation.
We also support the parents/carers of the children and young adults referred to SURT, as well as parents/carers affected by child to parent violence and abuse.
Our social purpose is to prevent and stop abuse within relationships. Our vision is for individuals to feel safer and happier in their relationships, as well as them developing hope and aspirations.
We achieve our aims by providing specialist education, support and advocacy to individuals until they feel safer and happier. We also provide specialist guidance and advice to local community members and work together with them, to contribute to the prevention and detection of crime to improve and develop safer neighbourhoods.
