St Oswald Catholic Church

Location: All South Tyneside

We work together as a church community to help organise events to combat isolation and loneliness .Our goal is to provide community cohesion to all and we work closely with our sister churches as well as many multi faith organisations to reach many areas of South Tyneside.

More recently we have had a kitchen refurb in our church hall which should allow us to provide a weekly meal or cafe style lunch to anyone in need .We have close links with our local Emmaus and Impact family services and regularly support them with donations from our outreach fundraising projects.

We have continued to grow our work and each Christmas partake in a project called Love Christmas which in 2025 saw us assemble 500 bags of kindness containing 9 food items which were given to local foodbanks ,school children across the town ,Emmaus ,Impact family services, our local mosque and anyone in need at Christmas.

This year, 2026,  we aim to provide 600 bags at a cost of around £13,500 and will be providing 150 toiletry packs.

We also support the night before Christmas pyjama and nightdress appeal ran by South Tyneside Hospital and will be providing approx £2000 of toys to provide a pop up toy shop for the ladies using Impact to shop and select Christmas gifts for their children.

Our fundraising is year round and with the help and support of our volunteers we are continually looking to provide both financial and emotional support to those who attend our events.

Through the community events we have built up strong links with many groups and charities and endeavor to maintain links with our local council members to continually explore what is need in our area.
