Almost one hundred representatives from South Tyneside Pledge organisations attended a celebration event in the Town Hall in South Shields.
The event was a chance to shine a light on the fantastic achievements of local organisations from the public, private and voluntary sectors who have signed up to the South Tyneside Pledge, and to thank them for their contributions to the initiative.
The Leader of South Tyneside Council, Cllr Tracey Dixon, opened the event and said:
“Without the support of each Pledge organisation, the initiative wouldn’t have had the success it has had to date.
“It has kept spending within our local economy, boosted local businesses, enhanced volunteering, helped local people access employment, increased engagement with local schools and much much more.
“Crucially, it has also created a real sense of community, building on the real pride we have across the borough.
“We know that as individual organisations, we can only do so much, but collectively, we can make a real difference.”
