Dan Fenwick, Managing Director of Venture.10 Group signed up to the South Tyneside Pledge earlier this year specifically to support estate agents and local residents, working with more local suppliers and volunteering on important projects in the Borough.
Venture.10 Property Services is a family-run cleaning company working primarily for estate agent and landlord partners across the North East. The business provides an end-to-end property turnaround service, offering house clearances, end of tenancy deep cleaning, painting and decorating and garden maintenance. They pride themselves on quality of work, reliability of service and communication with clients, community members and, of course, colleagues.
The business is clearly aligned to the ethos and values of the South Tyneside Pledge and has a Sustainability Strategy they are committed to delivering on and constantly evolving; it is a Certified Carbon Literate organisation and a Culture Pioneer Award double finalist.
The company has recently developed a ‘Manna’ Monday initiative where members of the team undertake voluntary work within the community. The initiative exists to acknowledge the resources that the business is privileged to have and looking to share those resources and goodwill with community members most in need. Dan shares with us two fantastic examples of what this entails:
“We were referred a lady who was off work suffering with depression and had become overwhelmed with her house, resulting in her two dogs being taken away. She loves her dogs and so this had only deepened her depression. We visited her over the course of a couple of days and returned her house to its former glory. She had her dogs back with her within two weeks.
“A lady enquired about having her house cleaned in preparation to sell it. Her husband had been diagnosed with MS and was very close to being wheelchair-bound, meaning they had to sell their house and move into a bungalow. The team visited a number of times to do various jobs such as painting kitchen ceilings and clearing her back yard of old furniture and came to realise how much she loved two fish she had kept for over 20 years that would have to be left behind. The team have since built her a pond at her new bungalow, so when she and her husband made the big move, their fish could move with them, and this might soften the turmoil they were all experiencing in some tiny way.”
Councillor Paul Dean, Lead Member for the Voluntary Sector, Partnerships, and Equalities, at South Tyneside Council, said:
“The Pledge was set up to encourage local organisations to support our local community and these are fantastic examples of just that. This business has had a massive impact on these people’s lives, volunteering in their own time and they should be very proud of that for that we are thankful and very proud. Long may this fantastic ethos continue.”
