DESCRIPTION:The South Tyneside Pledge was launched to retain economic value within the borough\, and we know this work is having a significant impact with Pledge organisations advertising jobs locally\, utilising South Tyneside Works and taking part in careers fairs in the borough. Some great collaborations have been forged between Pledge organisations on student placements\, work experience and careers programmes. \n\n\n\nOur Autumn Networking event will focus on local recruitment. Join us for lunch\, networking and to hear from other organisations about some of the fantastic work going on across the borough. A range of local speakers will look at how businesses can widen their recruitment and selection pools and encourage more local candidates\, particularly those with diverse or additional needs\, and outline some of the support available to do so.  \n\n\n\nShare your business story \n\n\n\nOn booking organisations can opt in to speaking at the event\, this can be simply to introduce your organisation but we would warmly welcome any updates around local recruitment. Have you taken on an apprentice\, hosted a work experience placement or actively promoted healthy lifestyles within the workplace? If so we would love to hear more!   \n\n\n\nAll organisations attending will be asked to provide an introduction to their organisation; identify top products or services they buy and sell to encourage local business. DESCRIPTION:Hot on the heals of Hebburn Town FC being crowned champions of the Northern Premier League East Division\, the Football Club is opening its doors to local businesses and organisations in a special event to mark national volunteer week. \n\n\n\nHebburn Football Club plans to become a community hub\, attracting local groups and businesses to its Hebburn Sports Ground\, in Victoria Road\, as a meeting spot and functions venue. It wants to highlight the incredibly important role volunteers play in the running of the club and the work they deliver across the wider community. \n\n\n\nThe event will showcase how Chief Executive Stephen Rutherford and Directors at the Club have turned Hebburn into a genuine success story\, taking the club to the top spot in Division 1 since taking over in 2017\, and the role volunteers and partnering organisations have played in this. \n\n\n\nThe club\, which is a proud supporter of the South Tyneside Pledge has over 1\,000 players from the first XI to junior teams\, including around 100 women and girls. Football is a great way of uniting people\, but even for those who don’t follow the sport\, there are many other ways to get involved. \n\n\n\nThe event is open to all local businesses and South Tyneside Pledge organisations. Guests will hear more about future plans for the club and some of the work that goes on behind the scenes. Guest business speakers from Hitachi and HTG will highlight how they are reaping the benefits from partnering with the club\, and there will be a chance for a look around and to network. The O&M base will serve as the hub for operations for Dogger Bank\, the world’s largest offshore wind farm! It houses the control room that will monitor and manage 5% of the UK’s electricity generating capacity\, which is produced by the offshore wind farm. \n\n\n\nThis event is limited to 20 places only. DESCRIPTION:Our Business Talks are back with a live audience! Join us for from 5.00pm\, and stay on afterwards for drinks\, networking and pizza. The live-stream will take place from 5.30pm – 6.30pm. \n\n\n\nOver 150 businesses have signed up to the South Tyneside Pledge since it launched 12 months ago. Pledgees range from large organisations such as Tyne Coast College\, Port of Tyne and Hitachi and Equinor through to key local firms small firms and voluntary organisations . \n\n\n\nAll organisations are committing to do everything they can to spend\, recruit and support the local area to help residents and businesses. This Business Talk will shine a light on some of the fantastic work that has been going on. From organisations signing up and taking part in jobs fairs\, to taking on apprentices\, hosting work placements\, enabling staff to volunteer within the borough and offering warm spaces to our residents this winter. \n\n\n\nThe Chief Executive of South Tyneside Council\, Jonathan Tew\, will be joined by a number of Pledge organisations to discuss the impact that some of this work if having across the borough and to look at ways to grow and expand the Pledge.
