This business supplies a range of diversity\, equity and inclusion (DEI) solutions for local\, national and global organisations. Michael will discuss why engaging with the diversity\, equity and inclusion agenda is not only right\, but also smart; bringing in fresh perspectives\, new ideas and can open new markets. \n\n\n\nPam Seers is the Managing Director of PRS Inclusion Service\, a local organisation offering high quality training\, education and outreach services to disabled people across the borough. Pam will highlight the many benefits of employing a person with a disability and outline the support available to do so effectively. Pam will discuss some of the perceived barriers to doing do and outline the support her team can provide to employers with recruitment\, placements\, training\, contracts as well as guiding employers on how to support employees at both interview stage and then in the workplace.  \n\n\n\nEddie Czestochowski\, MD of Cell Pack Solutions\, will complete the line-up to discuss some of the activities undertaken within his business to help recruit and retain staff. Set up almost 25 years ago\, Cell Pack Solutions designs and delivers custom battery packs\, and was named as one of the 50 fastest growing companies in the North East in 2022. With a clear ethos of “growth through innovation\, great service and investment in our people”. Cell Pack Solutions are one of many South Tyneside organisations signed up to the Better Health at Work Award\, a way to promote healthy lifestyles and consider the health of employees. They are currently working towards their Silver Award! \n\n\n\nFollowing the panel discussion\, attendees will have access to a networking lunch and a small exhibition providing an array of information. There will be information about the Better Health at Work Award\, the Disability Confident Scheme and South Tyneside Council’s support for carers. The North East LSIP is focussed on the skills requirements of businesses located in Sunderland\, Gateshead\, South Tyneside and County Durham. \n\n\n\nThe NEAA will be working with businesses\, education and training providers\, key stakeholders and cross-sector Employer Representative Bodies to develop a plan which meets future business needs\, provides a resilient and responsive supply of the skills needed to drive economic success and investment in the region. \n\n\n\nIn this Business Talk\, Paul will explain what this means for businesses and how to get involved. \n\n\n\nThe first phase of this work will focus on five core sectors: \n\n\n\n\nAdvanced manufacturing\n\n\n\nConstruction\n\n\n\nDigital\n\n\n\nHealth and life science\n\n\n\nTransport and logistics\n\n\n\n\nPaul will be joined by Kevin Howell\, Chief Executive of South Tyneside based HTG\, and David Hutchinson from the HR team at Nissan. Both will provide an overview of their sectors\, skills requirements and how new technologies\, digitalisation\, and the pursuit of Net Zero may impact their future workforce requirements. \n\n\n\nHTG is a leading IT outsourcing consultancy and Microsoft Cloud Specialist Partner\, helping clients use cloud technology to solve business problems through modern workplace solutions and managed IT services. The company was recently listed in the Ward Hadaway top 50 fastest growing businesses in the North East region.  \n\n\n\nDavid Hutchinson will discuss Nissan’s EV36Zero – a £1bn electric vehicle hub\, which heralds the next phase of Nissan’s electrification plan that will accelerates the company’s journey to carbon neutrality. Today\, with over 330 member companies it is the leading automotive cluster in the UK and provides members with an unparallel collaborative network where companies find benefit from leadership and co-ordination of activities of mutual benefit. \n\n\n\nToday\, there are 8 industry led working groups covering 5 thematic areas including Business Resilience\, Skills\, Innovation & Technology\, Trade and Network & Connectivity. The NEAA has also delivered £18m of Government funded programmes including the DfE funded North East Local Skills Improvement Plan\, DCMS funded 5G Connected & Automated Logistics project and the ERDF (MHCLG) funded Supply Chain North East programme. \n\n\n\nPaul represents the regions automotive sector on the Automotive Council Skills Group\, Supply Chain Group and Digital Group\, the North East LEP’s Business Growth Board and Skills Advisory Panel\, a member of the BEIS External Expert Supply Chain Group and is a board member of the European Automotive Clusters Network\, and lead for the I4.0 working group. Paul is also the only UK based Cluster Benchmarking Expert for the European Secretariat for Cluster Analysis (ESCA). \n\n\n\nPaul has extensive knowledge of the business support environment at both regional\, national and international level\, and holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Durham.
